DYSLEXIA

I developed this Dutch dyslexia e-learning and game (2025) for everyone who knows someone with dyslexia — parents, teachers, friends, and colleagues. People with dyslexia often face misunderstanding in daily life. Not because others don’t want to understand, but simply because it’s hard to truly empathize if you don’t experience it yourself.

With this e-learning/game, I want to change that.

Meaning of DYSLEXIA

The project aims to foster greater understanding and empathy for those living with dyslexia. By immersing users in an experience designed to reflect the real challenges of dyslexia, the game allows people to literally feel the difficulties someone with dyslexia faces.

It promotes awareness that small changes whether in communication, teaching, or everyday interactions can make a big difference. The ultimate goal is simple: more understanding, more patience, and better support for everyone affected by dyslexia.

With the right knowledge and minor adjustments, parents, teachers, friends, and colleagues can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those with dyslexia.

The proces and technical approach

The e-learning/game was designed with accessibility and user experience as priorities. I deliberately chose:

  • A dyslexia-friendly font, allowing users to experience firsthand how small typographic adjustments can greatly improve readability.

  • Audio support, to demonstrate the importance of offering information through multiple sensory channels.

  • Interactive games and exercises, which engage users actively and simulate the kinds of challenges a person with dyslexia might face, showing constructive ways to respond.

  • I created the illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and designed the game mockups in Adobe XD, ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly visual style.

The development included careful selection of tools and platforms to ensure smooth interactivity and accessibility across devices. The result is an educational yet engaging experience that bridges the empathy gap and encourages inclusive behavior.
